Dennis Apau

MSc in African Studies

Apau Dennis is a political science researcher from Ghana, currently pursuing an MSc in African Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford. He is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford and a member of St Antony’s College. Dennis is passionate about political theory and development policy, with a focus on creating sustainable political strategies that support economic growth and unity across the African continent.

He holds a degree in Political Science with a minor in Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Dennis has been involved with several organisations, including the Politics Student Association (POSSA), One Africa Initiative, and a welfare group he co-founded with former classmates. These engagements have deepened his commitment to youth advocacy and reinforced his belief in teamwork and political reform as tools for African unity. His research focuses on governance, public policy and African development, particularly policymaking in Ghana and its implications for wider regional growth. Dennis has co-authored three research articles, and is preparing to publish his first individual peer-reviewed manuscript. He hopes to build expertise in data-driven research and collaborative science.

At Oxford, Dennis aims to contribute to interdisciplinary dialogue and strengthen his research skills to become a leading policy consultant and advocate. He hopes to support inclusive governance and political structures that reflect the diverse identities and aspirations of African communities.
