Ethar Isam Abdelwahab Ali is a pharmacist from Sudan and a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford pursuing an MSc in Integrated Immunology at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. She is a member of St Hugh’s College.

Ethar graduated with first-class honours in Pharmacy from Omdurman Islamic University, where she received the university’s Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship, awarded to the top-ranking student in her cohort.

Her academic excellence is complemented by a strong commitment to community health and education. She has contributed to global pharmacy education through her work with the Pharmacy Education Committee of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), and collaborated with Patient Support Organization on public health awareness campaigns in Sudan.

Ethar has also gained practical experience in community pharmacy, public health, pharmaceutical supply chains, and cosmetic formulation. These roles have reinforced her interest in scientific research and her goal of advancing targeted therapies, particularly those involving the immune system.

At Oxford, she aims to deepen her technical and research expertise in immunology, with a focus on developing treatments for immune-related conditions and addressing antimicrobial resistance. Her long-term ambition is to contribute to drug discovery and ensure equitable access to innovative therapies in under-resourced settings.
