Evans Aryeh
MSc in Pharmacology
Evans Aryeh is a licensed pharmacist from Ghana and a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford, currently studying for an MSc in Pharmacology. He is a member of St Hugh’s College.
Evans graduated as Valedictorian of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2024. His academic excellence was recognised with the Vice Chancellor’s Award in both 2023 and 2024.
His research focuses on the medicinal potential of African botanical plants, motivated by a strong belief in the untapped therapeutic value of the continent’s rich biodiversity. At KNUST, Evans worked as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Pharmacology, contributing to early-stage drug discovery efforts involving local plant species such as Plumeria acutifolia and Antiaris toxicaria.
In addition to his academic work, Evans has been actively involved in healthcare innovation and community development. As the Research Lead—and former IT Lead—at Erith Health Services in Ghana, he played a key role in securing a World Food Programme grant to support the development of a digital healthcare training platform, which is now being scaled across West Africa. He has also led health outreach programmes and coordinated donation drives in Accra through Erith Health Services.
Following his studies at Oxford, Evans aims to establish an ethnopharmacological research institute in Sub-Saharan Africa. His vision is to accelerate drug discovery through indigenous knowledge systems and contribute to improving healthcare outcomes across the continent.
