Franciscus Crouse

Franciscus Crouse is a disability rights advocate pursuing a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. He is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of Somerville College.

Franciscus holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Rhodes University, where he graduated first in his class. His academic achievements include numerous subject prizes and the prestigious Juta Prize for Law, awarded to the top final-year student based on overall academic performance.

At Oxford, Franciscus focuses on Human Rights Law, with a particular interest in disability justice in Africa. He is an accomplished debater, having won the Pan-African Universities Debating Championship and competed in the World University Debating Championship three times. He is also experienced in moot court, representing South Africa and Africa in prestigious international competitions such as the Jessup Moot Court in Washington, DC, and the John H Jackson Moot Court at the World Trade Organization in Switzerland.

Passionate about education, Franciscus has coached high school students in debating and moot court for seven years, dedicating himself to empowering those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

After completing his studies at Oxford, Franciscus plans to combat human rights abuses in South Africa and across Africa, using his expertise to effect positive change.
