Noha Adil Hassan Mahgoub
MSc in Social Data Science
Noha Adil Hassan Mahgoub is a Sudanese IT graduate currently pursuing an MSc in Social Data Science at the University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford and member of Linacre College.
Noha graduated top of her class from the Faculty of Mathematical and Informatics Sciences at the University of Khartoum, earning the Best Academic Award for four consecutive years. Her interest in optimisation and algorithm design was solidified during her final year, when she developed an optimisation model that demonstrated the real-world power of data science to improve systems and drive social impact.
A passionate volunteer, Noha has actively contributed to local and international initiatives focused on education, youth empowerment, and technology. She has led workshops, organized outreach programs, and supported events that inspired young people—especially girls—to pursue careers in STEM, while promoting digital literacy and access to opportunities.
The political instability and ongoing conflict in Sudan, which led to the collapse of the education system and her own displacement, have profoundly shaped Noha’s academic and professional journey. These experiences strengthened her resolve to pursue data science as a means to address complex societal challenges.
At Oxford, Noha aims to deepen her expertise in applying data-driven methods to support education, public services, and social development. Her long-term goal is to collaborate with research institutions and communities to translate academic research into practical solutions that support recovery and resilience in conflict-affected areas.
