Ola Abuzaid

MSc in Applied Cancer Science

Ola Abuzaid is a medical doctor from Sudan, currently pursuing an MSc in Applied Cancer Science at the Department of Oncology, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a member of Green Templeton College. Ola is passionate about advancing equitable cancer care and increasing the representation of African populations in cancer research.

She was selected for Sudan’s national Gifted and Talented Children Programme and, after completing a specialised high school curriculum, received the prestigious Türkiye Government Scholarship to study medicine. She earned her degree from Erciyes University, where she was actively involved in research, national conferences, student-led initiatives and hospital-based volunteer work. Ola later received the Erasmus+ Scholarship and completed a clinical internship in the Department of Oncology at Jagiellonian University Hospital in Poland.

Her research interests include precision oncology and targeted cancer therapies, with a focus on pancreatic cancer. She is particularly committed to ensuring that advances in cancer treatment are effective and inclusive, and that genetically diverse populations are adequately represented in clinical trials.

After her studies, Ola intends to specialise in oncology and pursue a career as a physician-scientist, combining clinical care and research to improve cancer outcomes in Africa and globally.
