Zyad Yasser
MSc in Advanced Computer Science
Zyad Yasser is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar from Egypt. He is currently pursuing an MSc in Advanced Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, University of Oxford and is a member of St Catherine’s College.
He graduated summa cum laude in Computer Science and Mathematics from New York University Abu Dhabi in 2023. During his undergraduate studies, he became interested in algorithmic game theory, culminating in his capstone thesis, "Stable Federated Fog Formation using Evolutionary Game Theory and Federated Learning", which resulted in two publications in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal and the IEEE Globecom. After graduation, Zyad joined the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems at NYU Abu Dhabi, where he contributed to the formalization of topological quantum computing frameworks. This work, which led to a co-authored publication in the Journal of Symbolic Logic, reinforced his motivation to develop robust, verifiable systems for future technologies like quantum computing. Alongside his research, he also provided guidance to undergraduate students, assisting with projects related to Homotopy Type Theory and formal proof using Cubical Agda.
At Oxford, Zyad aims to deepen his expertise in theoretical computer science, with a focus on programming language theory and quantum computing. Upon completing his studies, he is committed to applying this knowledge to bridge abstract theory with practical innovation. His long-term ambition is to foster research and innovation ecosystems that drive technological development across Africa.
