Geofrey Emesu

Mastercard Foundation scholar

PgDip in Global Health Research

Uganda

Geofrey Emesu, a MasterCard Foundation AfOx Scholar from Uganda, is pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Research at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine through distance learning. With a commitment to strengthening public health systems, Geofrey aims to broaden his expertise in global health research.

Geofrey holds a First-Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Management from the Islamic University in Uganda and is completing a Master’s in Health Services Research at Makerere University. Currently, he serves as the Diocesan Health Coordinator for the Church of Uganda, Soroti Diocese, overseeing 21 health facilities across eight districts. His role has allowed him to work with organisations like UPMB and the e-FACE project, enhancing HIV management and healthcare resources. Additionally, Geofrey has received advanced training in leadership, policy development, and health services from institutions such as the University of Washington and Amref International University.

After completing his studies at Oxford, Geofrey plans to focus on research within global health, particularly health economics and policy. His goal is to support more efficient, equitable healthcare systems in resource-limited settings, advocating for policies that promote accessible, high-quality care across Uganda and beyond.
