Aisha Yusuf graduated with First Class Honours in Economics and Statistics from the University of Nairobi, finishing in the top 5% of her class. Her academic training fostered a strong interest in using economics and data to address complex development challenges.
Before Oxford, Aisha spent five years in consulting across the private sector. She began her career at Deloitte, working in international tax and transfer pricing, before joining Boston Consulting Group, where she has worked on development programmes and social impact initiatives across East Africa. Her work has involved supporting governments, development partners, and other stakeholders on projects aimed at improving development outcomes.
Having grown up and worked in Kenya, Aisha is passionate about advancing sustainable development across Kenya and the wider East African region. Her policy interests lie at the intersection of international development, food systems transformation, and climate and sustainability, with a particular focus on shaping policies that promote inclusive growth, strengthen food security, and build resilience to climate change.
At Oxford, Aisha is excited to learn from a diverse community of policymakers and practitioners. She hopes to build the knowledge and networks needed to contribute to policies that improve livelihoods and foster long-term, sustainable development across Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa.
Outside her academic and professional interests, she enjoys reading history and fiction, as well as photography.
