Christiana Onyinyechi Ufomba

MSc in Law and Finance

Christiana Onyinyechi Ufomba is a Nigerian-qualified lawyer pursuing the MSc in Law and Finance (MLF) at the University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, a Linacre Wanakaset Scholar and a member of Linacre College.

Before joining Oxford, Christiana worked as an Associate in the Finance and Projects team at Templars, a leading pan-African law firm. In this role, she advised domestic and international clients on a wide range of complex transactions, including project finance, capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions.

Christiana is passionate about infrastructure development and its role in achieving sustainable growth. She founded the Legally Empowered Network, a non-profit organisation promoting practical legal education for students and graduates. She also launched She’s Financed Initiative, which advocates for women’s financial inclusion and champions sustainable infrastructure projects.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Abia State University (ABSU), graduating with First Class Honours and as the best student in her class. She also earned First Class Honours from the Nigerian Law School, ranking in the top 2.05% of over 5,000 students nationally. During her time at ABSU, she served in several leadership roles, including as the first elected female course representative in the Faculty of Law.

At Oxford, Christiana aims to deepen her understanding of the intersection between finance, law, and sustainable development. After completing the MLF programme, she plans to work with a development finance institution focused on addressing Africa’s infrastructure deficit. She also hopes to expand the reach of her non-profit initiatives by partnering with organisations committed to gender equity and sustainable development.
