Eseosa Adaugo Uwagboe

Eseosa Adaugo Uwagboe is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar pursuing the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at the University of Oxford and is a member of Wadham College.

Eseosa is a Nigerian qualified lawyer with a strong interest in sustainable energy, infrastructure development, and commercial law. Before joining Oxford, she practised with the Energy Team at Banwo & Ighodalo, where she advised on complex energy and infrastructure transactions, including renewable energy projects aimed at expanding sustainable energy access across Africa. Her experience has reinforced her commitment to leveraging law as a catalyst for Africa’s energy transition and economic development.

She graduated as the Best Law Student from Afe Babalola University. She subsequently graduated in the top 2% of over 5,000 students at the Nigerian Law School, receiving the Overall Best Student Prize in Civil Litigation and the Second Overall Best Student Prize in Professional Ethics and Skills. In recognition of her academic excellence, she was also awarded the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria Scholarship.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Eseosa is passionate about mentoring and youth development. She serves as Vice Chairman of The Excellent Law Student Quarters, where she mentors aspiring lawyers and supports initiatives that foster academic and professional excellence. She also leads the Towards a Green Africa Initiative, which promotes sustainable energy awareness and advocates for practical solutions to Africa’s energy challenges.

Through the BCL, Eseosa hopes to deepen her expertise in environmental, energy, and regulatory law and contribute to legal and policy reforms that advance sustainable development across Africa. She hopes to leverage law as a tool for strengthening environmental governance, promoting clean energy, while supporting sustainable economic growth and inclusive development across the continent.
