Favour Eragbie

Favour Eragbie is a conservationist and environmental educator from Nigeria pursuing an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Nature Recovery at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, a Linacre Trapnell Scholar, and a member of Linacre College.

She holds an honours degree in Plant Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Benin, where her research focused on developing a bio-organic fertiliser to improve soil fertility for smallholder farmers.

As an undergraduate, Favour was the only student on the winning multidisciplinary team in the World Bank’s Utility of the Future Global Youth Challenge. She helped develop an innovative, integrated solution to support the Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company in Zambia in advancing towards its net-zero carbon emissions goal.

She founded the Youth for Environmental Conservation Initiative, which integrates climate science, indigenous knowledge, and environmental education to address environmental degradation. To date, the initiative has engaged over 45,000 people, supported the planting of more than 3,000 native trees, and removed more than 10,000 kg of waste to protect land and freshwater ecosystems.

As a Student Ambassador Coordinator at Nature Positive Universities, Favour supports students across 60 countries through training and mentorship in climate education and community mobilisation. In recognition of her impact, she received the North American Association for Environmental Education’s 30 Under 30 Environmental Educator Award and The Diana Award in 2024.

At Oxford, she aims to deepen her understanding of freshwater ecosystems, sustainable food production, and biodiversity governance to advance African-led conservation solutions and policies that protect nature while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
