Lydia Dedo Asare

MSc in Law and Finance

Lydia Dedo Asare is a corporate lawyer from Ghana, currently pursuing an MSc in Law and Finance at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar at the University of Oxford and a member of Oriel College. Lydia specialises in Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Labour Law, and is passionate about advancing women-led business growth through legal and financial empowerment.

She holds a First Class LL.B. from the University of Ghana, where she was awarded Best Student in Equity and Succession, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Geography and Resource Development. She qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana at the Ghana School of Law, where she received the Director’s Award for Best Student in Family Law and Practice. Lydia began her legal career at Kimathi and Partners (Corporate Attorneys) and currently serves as Legal Counsel at KGL Group of Companies LTD, which operates across technology, investment, gaming, energy and real estate. She has advised on a wide range of corporate legal matters including incorporation, business restructuring, private equity, loan and share agreements, and tax compliance on both domestic and international transactions.

At Oxford, Lydia aims to refine her corporate finance expertise and build networks that support the development of African enterprises. She hopes to launch a platform that connects women entrepreneurs to affordable financing and equips them with business and financial literacy tools to scale sustainably.
