Martin Manyozo is a climate finance and sustainable development professional and social entrepreneur from Malawi. He is pursuing an MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford and is a member of Linacre College.
He graduated from the University of Malawi, The Polytechnic, with a Distinction in Bachelor of Business Administration. Growing up in Malawi, he witnessed firsthand how climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities, an experience that inspired him to found the award-winning Clean Cities Project.
Through the Clean Cities Project, Martin has led initiatives that have mobilized more than 50,000 young people, supported climate-vulnerable communities, promoted waste-to-art recycling, strengthened climate resilience, and influenced environmental policy in Malawi. Beyond his social enterprise work, he has served within government, international organisations, and global leadership programmes. His experience includes contributing to climate finance and public policy through Malawi’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, representing young people at the United Nations General Assembly, serving as President of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) - Southern Africa, and working with the United Nations Foundation and the Mastercard Foundation.
He has also received recognitions including the Mastercard Foundation Anzisha FAST Build Award, the TotalEnergies Startupper Award for Best Circular Economy Project, the United Nations Foundation Mobilizer Award, the Harvard University Aspire Institute Social Impact Seed Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation Juntanza Prize, the Global Center for Climate Mobility Youth Grant, and the United Nations Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award.
At Oxford, Martin looks forward to learning alongside exceptional scholars and building lifelong collaborations. His aspiration is to return home equipped with the knowledge, networks, and leadership needed to advance climate resilience, green entrepreneurship, and sustainable development across Malawi and the African continent.
