Monalisa Faulkner

Mastercard Foundation Scholar

MSc International Health and Tropical Medicine, Lincoln College

Sierra Leone

Monalisa Faulkner is a Sierra Leonean paediatric resident physician with over half a decade of experience across neonatal and child health. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar pursuing an MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford and is a member of Lincoln College.

For Dr. Faulkner, caring for children extends beyond a clinical responsibility. It is work she would choose even without a rota. Her experience in resource-constrained settings has shaped her commitment to health equity, implementation science, digital innovation, and stronger health systems for children.

Alongside her specialist training, she has contributed to paediatric and public-health research. Through Oxford’s MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine, she hopes to strengthen her expertise in research, policy, and programme implementation, and then apply it across West Africa.

Away from the hospital, Dr. Faulkner enjoys comedy, restorative beach days, and any opportunity to bring joy to children. She welcomes connections with clinicians, researchers, and collaborators who share her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
