Njideka Chioma Okafor

Njideka Chioma Okafor is a Nigerian finance lawyer currently pursuing an MSc in Law and Finance at the University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a member of Wolfson College.

Njideka’s career in finance law focuses on structuring transactions that bridge infrastructure deficits within volatile economic environments such as Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Prior to Oxford, she worked as an Associate at Aluko & Oyebode, Nigeria’s leading finance practice, advising on infrastructure and project finance transactions across key sectors.

She earned First Class Honours from both the University of Ibadan and the Nigerian Law School, where she graduated as the Overall Best Student in Civil and Criminal Litigation and the Second-Best Student in Criminal Litigation from a national cohort of over 5,300 candidates. She also served as Director of Communications of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), University of Ibadan chapter. She is the recipient of several academic excellence scholarships and awards, including the Shell Petroleum Development Company Joint Venture Scholarship and the Reginald Aziza Law School Scholarship.

At Oxford, Njideka looks forward to engaging with the University’s vibrant academic community and practitioners advancing impact investing and sustainable development. She hopes to deepen her expertise at the intersection of law and finance while developing innovative financing solutions to address Africa’s infrastructure gap and promote inclusive economic development. After Oxford, she hopes to work with institutions driving Africa’s infrastructure development, using innovative legal and financial solutions to mobilise capital for transformative projects across the continent.

Beyond her professional work, Njideka mentors aspiring Nigerian lawyers to pursue excellence through the NLS Trailblazers Scheme. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and hosting.
