Punam Amratia is a Senior Research Scientist and Technical Lead of the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) at Ifakara Health Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with affiliations at the Kids Institute of Australia. She has over a decade of experience in malaria epidemiology, biostatistics, and geospatial modelling, contributing to advances in mapping malaria risk and supporting strategic decision-making in both elimination and high-burden contexts.

Dr Amratia’s research focuses on integrating diverse surveillance and climate data using innovative AI and modelling approaches to improve burden estimation and guide policy. She is also deeply engaged in capacity strengthening, having developed and delivered geospatial and data science training across Africa and globally. She holds an MSc in Epidemiology from Imperial College London and a PhD in Emerging Pathogens from the University of Florida.
