Rediet Emebet Getnet Alemu

Rediet Emebet Getnet Alemu is a research scientist from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, pursuing an MSc in Child Development and Education at the University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a member of Linacre College.

For her undergraduate degree, Rediet studied Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology at Harvard University. Afterwards, she worked with Shamiri Institute to design and test school-based mental health interventions for youth in Kenya and Ethiopia.

At Oxford, Rediet hopes to design curricula that can enhance students’ capacity for learning, creativity, and critical thinking. She is also interested in exploring different delivery methods to make these curricula accessible to students with sensory or learning disabilities and to those unable to attend schools.

In her free time, Rediet loves to paint, play music, garden, and walk around Addis Abeba.
