MSc in Health Service Improvement and Evaluation

Sara Bashir is a public health researcher from Sudan, currently pursuing an MSc in Health Service Improvement and Evaluation at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine (NDM), University of Oxford. She is a Mastercard Foundation AfOx Scholar and a member of St Catherine’s College. Sara is dedicated to strengthening health systems and improving access to quality care for underserved populations, particularly migrants and refugees.

She holds a First Class Honours degree from the University of Khartoum and recently completed an MSc in International Health at Heidelberg University in Germany. Her research—conducted in collaboration with the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ)—focused on cancer prevention among migrant and refugee communities. She has worked with institutions such as the United Nations World Food Programme and Heidelberg University Hospital, contributing to research and programme development in nutrition, migrant health, and health systems strengthening. Sara has also been active in global peace and health advocacy through her involvement with the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW).

At Oxford, Sara aims to deepen her research expertise and contribute to the development of resilient, evidence-based health interventions that address the needs of marginalised and displaced populations in low-resource settings.
