Sonia Evwoja is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar from Nigeria pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She is a member of St Antony’s College.
Sonia is a data analytics leader and an advocate for women’s leadership in Africa. Before joining Oxford, she served as a Data Analytics Manager at EY Nigeria, where she led multidisciplinary teams delivering data-driven solutions for financial institutions and businesses across Africa. She has over seven years of experience in data analytics and technology across the consulting and financial services sectors.
Beyond her professional career, Sonia is passionate about creating spaces where women can grow, connect and lead. She founded Awareness Africa, a non-profit organisation that has inspired hundreds of secondary school girls to pursue careers in STEM through mentorship, career development programmes and leadership initiatives. She is also an avid long-distance runner and an active member of the Lagos running community. Through running, Sonia has built communities that promote wellness, connection and social impact. She has organised purpose-led initiatives such as the #WalkForHer campaign, using fitness as a platform to raise awareness about sexual and gender-based violence.
At Oxford Saïd Business School, Sonia is strengthening her expertise at the intersection of technology, finance and strategy. She hopes to leverage data, capital and innovation to accelerate Africa’s economic development while expanding opportunities for women and young people. In the long term, Sonia aspires to serve in both business and public leadership, building stronger institutions and advancing equitable access to quality education and economic opportunity across the continent.
