Tabby Ngeru is a Kenyan psychologist, researcher, educator and disability innovator working across mental health, neurodiversity, technology and health systems. She is a Mastercard Foundation Scholar pursuing an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at the University of Oxford and is a member of Wolfson College. She is driven by one question: how can African systems respond better to minds that learn, develop and experience the world differently?
She graduated valedictorian with First Class Honours in Psychology from the British University in Egypt in a dual program with London South Bank University. Her honours include the Highest Academic Achievement Award, a Distinction Award as the top psychology student in her cohort, and a fully funded BUE AU scholarship.
Tabby is currently a Consultant Psychologist at Trinity Wellness Psychiatric Clinic, a part-time Teaching Associate at Mount Kenya University, and one of the few neurodiversity specialists working in Kenya. At Oxford, she hopes to deepen her ability to design and evaluate interventions that strengthen frontline mental health care across Africa.
She founded Beyond Brain Barriers Foundation to expand neurodiversity support and mental health access in underserved communities, and later founded Qiotter, a health technology company developing assistive technology, inclusive learning, positive screen uses and specialist-guided support for children and caregivers. The Global Disability Innovation Hub has recognized her among top 8 women shaping disability innovation globally and, most recently, among women shifting disability through engineering.
Outside work, Tabby enjoys outdoor adventures, adrenaline filled activities and strength training, preferring weights to cardio. She practices Spanish through Netflix, hosts cookouts and game nights, and brings people together over Kenyan food, laughter and conversation.
