Creating a culture of equitable partnerships
We aim to provide an enabling environment for researchers and students that is conducive for entrepreneurship, innovation and research leadership. Our three primary areas of focus are education (funding Oxford scholarships for outstanding African postgraduate students), research (facilitating collaboration between African and Oxford-based scholars), and innovation (seed-funding projects run by African innovators to address the continent's biggest challenges).
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Accelerating progress
We support researchers based in African institutions to work in equitable collaboration with researchers based at the University of Oxford to advance knowledge and innovation towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Oxford scholarships for African graduates
World class training for African graduates in Oxford
By 2050 the majority of the world's student age population will be in Africa. African graduates and researchers will play a key role in not only contributing to the future of the continent, but facilitating global change.
Translating research into action
Dr Sarah Nabachwa’s work focused on the importance of using locally contextualized case studies when teaching business in Africa. During her fellowship at Oxford, she developed business case studies, specific to the Ugandan business environment to make them more relevant and engaging for her students. Dr Nabachwa believes that the development of more African business case studies will be beneficial for teaching and learning business on the continent and beyond.
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship at the University of Oxford was a pivotal and enriching experience, fostering personal and professional development through engagement with esteemed faculty at Saïd Business School. This once in a lifetime opportunity has been transformative leading to unique opportunities since returning to Uganda.
